Brood II 17-year periodical cicadas (Magicicada septendecim)

A shed skin (exuvia) of a 17-year periodical cicada (Magicicada septendecim) remains attached a twig after the cicada emerged from its 17 year underground nymphal stage. Brood II 17-year periodical cicadas emerged to breed in the spring of 2013 after last being seen in 1996.
