The annual New York City Easter Parade was held on Sunday, April 24, 2011 from 10am to 4pm on 5th Avenue between 49th and 57th streets in Manhattan.
Unlike traditional parades which typically feature participants proceeding in a set direction, the New York City Easter parade is loosely organized with attendees showing off their holiday bonnets, festive hats, and sometimes outlandish outfits in a leisurely manner while walking among spectators.
The parade has its roots in the late 19th century as a more traditional religious event, but has evolved over the years to become more of a non-religious spectacle.
